Way to go Todd!!

I always wonder how much of a dogs personality is shaped by breed, family tendencies, and by the influence of the owners. The old nature vs nurture gets an added twist when you talk about breeds but then someone might start saying we are “profiling” geeez… lol I think our fur-babies are all unique and there is no guessing who they will turn out to be. Or when they act like they have a split personality around different people. God love them all… Life is never dull with pets.

I got this letter today. Would you like to finally be able to do something about Puppy Mills??? Read on…

Dear Claudia,

The attacks have started.

This November, voters in Missouri — the nation’s number-one puppy mill state — will vote on a measure that will stop puppy mill abuses. It’s called Proposition B, and it would establish common sense standards for the care of dogs.

But last week, the puppy mill industry launched its campaign against Prop B with robo-calls to households across the state spreading lies about this measure. We can’t let those attacks go unanswered. Will you help us deliver the facts to Missouri voters — and help save thousands of puppy mill dogs?

Missouri is home to approximately 3,000 puppy mills, about 30 percent of all the puppy mills in the country. And this massive industry is going to fight to keep business as usual, so they can continue to cram dogs into small and filthy cages, deny them veterinary care, expose them to extremes of heat and cold, and give them no exercise or human affection.

These puppy mills are cruel and the way these dogs are treated is wrong. And this dirty business affects all of us, because Missouri’s puppy mill dogs are shipped all over the country, sold to pet stores and directly to consumers over the Internet! In fact, as you read this, there is very likely a puppy from a Missouri mill staring out from a cage at a pet store near you.

Please help us with a special donation today to counter the false claims of the puppy millers — and urge Missouri citizens to vote YES! on Prop B this November.

We can’t let voters be fooled by the falsehoods of the puppy mill industry and their paid consultants who are willing to say whatever it takes to maintain their cruel abuse of animals in the name of profit. If our opponents have their say, tens of thousands of dogs will continue to suffer.

We need to fight back, and set the record straight. With your support today, we can communicate our positive message of the humane treatment of dogs to voters all across Missouri between now and Election Day, through TV ads and other efforts. Please make a special donation now to the campaign to pass Proposition B.

Thousands of dogs suffering in Missouri are counting on you. Thank you so much for your help today.

Sincerely,

For 16 years Daddy was a valued member of the Millan family. He became theirs at 4 month so of age and spread his calm attitude to all that met him. I feel like I know this dog myself. I have watched the Dog Whisperer on National Geographic Channel for years. I have read Cesar’s books and I have fallen in love with a Pitbull. As a Pomeranian lover you would think that loving a Pit would be crazy. The seems so opposite from each other.

Daddy was the gentle giant of his breed and a great ambassador. I cried the episode where a man had fear of dogs all his life and ended up playing with Daddy as the dog rolled onto his back and exposed his belly for him. The noises, growls and grunts that came out of him just made me grin from ear to ear. Thank you for changing my attitude toward your breed Daddy. On the day I learned of your passing I was in the pet store and a little 8 week old Pit puppy was there in a girls arms. In the past, I would have had thoughts like “How cute but what a terror he will be when he grows up”. Instead, I reached out and tickled his face and said, “Are you going to be a good Daddy or maybe a Junior when you grow up?” and walked away feeling very maternal and loving toward the tiny innocent pup.

Daddy is said to have passed quietly with his family. My heart breaks. I haven’t been able to write this until today. If a dog you have never met, that lives clear on the opposite side of the US, can touch you that deeply imagine how many others have been touched. How many others have had their attitudes changed toward Pitbulls over all? Daddy has had quite an effect on all of the people and dogs he has personally ( doggally??) helped to rehabilitate but that’s not all. He has left quite a legacy. Daddy has helped to change the perception of the general public. Not an easy thing to do.

My heart goes out to the Millan family and those at the Center. My heart goes out to the Nat. Geo. crew and anyone who has ever had the privilege of meeting Daddy. I know a little piece of all of us went with him but that’s okay. He gave so much to us…

For those of you who would like to help…

To honor Daddy’s legacy, the Daddy’s Emergency Animal Rescue [DEAR] Fund has been established by the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation.

The DEAR Fund will provide assistance for dogs who are victims of abuse or violence, man-made disasters(hoarder and puppy mill rescues), and large-scale natural disasters (hurricanes, fires, and other natural catastrophes).
