A good neighbor is a blessing and in this case a life saver too. Lesley Brown of Lake Moses Washington ran to save her neighbors Pomeranian Gizmo from an icy early grave. Gary Brown, Lesley’s husband noticed the little dog half submerged in the lagoon ice behind their homes and his wife and daughter didn’t think twice about running out into the cold to help. I am so happy to have found this happy ending story for you to read. This time of year we really need to stop and appreciate small miracles. For the whole story please check out the article written for the Columbia Basin Herald by Amy Phan.

Wow I am so impressed with Todd. He’s a 12 pound 9 year old Pomeranian who goes on hikes with his family. So cool! He has a little orange vest and sounds like they are able to go off leash too. That is definitely one of the things I hate about living in town. I’m always so afraid they will run into the street at the wrong time. I would LOVE to be able to take A & A someplace they could run free and “hike” with us. Apparently this Pomlete goes Kayaking as well.

Way to go Todd!!

I always wonder how much of a dogs personality is shaped by breed, family tendencies, and by the influence of the owners. The old nature vs nurture gets an added twist when you talk about breeds but then someone might start saying we are “profiling” geeez… lol I think our fur-babies are all unique and there is no guessing who they will turn out to be. Or when they act like they have a split personality around different people. God love them all… Life is never dull with pets.

Each year we hear of Dogs that save lives. Each year we hear of fires from Christmas trees. This one is both of those stories. I just read an article about Tuffy, a 2 year old Pomeranian who became a hero. A family of 5 in Michigan is alive today thanks to Tuffy. In the cold hours of the early Sunday morning, the little dogs barking woke them up in time to escape through a bedroom window. They didn’t have a smoke detector but they had a furry angel instead. Unfortunately, is sounds like he was in a panic because the article states he ran off before they could catch him.

They call Pomeranians “yappy”. Well, every time I hear a story like this or one about robbers avoiding houses with noisy small dogs, I thank God for ‘yappy’ dogs. God bless you Tuffy and I know you will bark your little heart out when your family joins you after a longer life. Five lives you helped to see another day. You certainly earned your wings.

For the article I read click here.
